The Careline Alarm Package
The elderly and disabled in Oxford will receive an easy-to-use alarm package, consisting of two parts.
Careline Alarm Unit
New alarm users in Oxford will receive the Careline base unit. This acts as a hub, allowing for clear communication between alarm user and monitoring team. It's simple to install as well, with the alarm user being able to set-up their unit within a few short minutes. It just goes into the mains power and the telephone socket, with the telephone plugging into the back of the unit with an adapter. Once everything is connected, the alarm user completes a test call with the monitoring team, by pressing the red button.
Careline Pendant
Alongside the base unit, Oxford alarm users will also receive the Careline pendant. This little device can be worn around the neck or wrist, depending on the wearer's preference. It's waterproof for use in the bathroom, and it will connect to the base unit throughout the home and garden - with a range of up to 100 metres. In an emergency, the alarm user needs to push the red button on their pendant. This sends an alert through to our 24/7 monitoring centre.

Choosing Emergency Contacts
All of our alarm users need to have at least one emergency contact. These are the people that we call in an emergency situation, and need to live close by. Commonly, alarm users choose friends, family and neighbours as their emergency contacts.

All of alarm users in Oxford, and across the country, are covered by a 24-hour monitoring team. Our team are highly-trained and have been trained to deal with emergency situations. Not only do our team work 24/7, but they are also open every single day of the year to ensure that our alarm users have somebody to help them.

What is Careline?
The Careline alarm is designed to help older, frail or disabled people remain in their own homes, with the knowledge that they always have somebody to help them in an emergency.
The Careline service includes an alarm base unit, which plugs into the telephone line, and a comfortable pendant which goes around the wrist or neck. All attachments are included in the Careline package.
The Careline alarm can easily be installed and tested by the user. Once the test is complete, the user will be connected to our 24-hour care team.
In an emergency, the alarm user simply presses the red button on their pendant and the monitoring team will respond. The situation is assessed over the base unit's loudspeaker and help if found in the form of emergency contacts and, if needed, the emergency services.

The pendant which accompanies the Careline alarm's base unit has some useful features:
