How to use a Masterlock Select Access Key safe

In the third entry of our 'How to' blog series, Careline365 takes a look at the Masterlock Select Access Key safe. Today we take you through the instructions you need to follow when you receive the security device and the special features it has.

As we know already from previous entries in the series, key safes are the best way of keeping your house secure. Rather than hiding keys under plant pots and doormats for your relatives, you can simply lock them away in a code-protected safe.

Masterlock Select Access Features

This key safe has been created by global security manufacturer Masterlock. This means that you can be sure that plenty of research and effort has been put into the development of the safe.

Set your Combination

Setting your combination code on the Masterlock key safe is a quick and simple task. To start you need to pull the black shutter door down to reveal the four-digit combination dials. Your safe will come with a factory-set combination code of 0000.

To open the safe's door you need push down the black release button which is located to the left of the combination dials. Once you have opened the safe's door you will see a reset lever on the right of the device. This needs to be pushed towards the left and then downwards.

Once this is down you can rotate the combination dials and set your very own pass code. We would suggest you make this code unique as possible so that nobody will be able to guess it. A Careline tip would be to also make a note of your code and keep it in a safe place withing your home - just so you have a back-up plan if you forget it.

When you have made your selection you should then push the reset lever upwards and right - so that it is back in its original location.

One last step is to close the safe's door and scramble your dials so that your code is hidden and the safe is locked. Perhaps do a test run just to check that your code has been set-up properly.

Fixing the safe to your wall

The fixings for the safe do come inside the box but there are a couple more things that you will need to fix the safe to your wall - a drill, drill bit, level and a pencil.

Instructions for the device are as follows:

• Open the safe's door and position device onto your wall
• Use level to ensure the safe is vertical
• Mark the position of the screw holes with a pen/pencil
• Remove the lock from the wall
• Drill the holes
• Position the lock back onto the wall
• Insert the screws provided and tighten them

We would advise that if you don't feel comfortable fixing the key safe yourself, you should ask a friend or family member to come round and help.
